Adversity Happens, How you Respond is a Choice
I know adversity happens to all of us. When it happens to me, I start asking: How do I go on? How do I find my way? How do I find hope?
I share my C.H.A.N.G.E. method, which gives six impactful solutions as my response to adversity
From Misery to Hope Loves Company
When ALS took my late husband Kevin in 2001 at the age of 36, I knew my life had changed forever. I could either wallow in my grief or use that experience for good.
I chose to turn my pain into purpose, and that’s what led me to create Hope Loves Company — the only nonprofit with a unique mission to support children and young adults affected by ALS.
In my presentation, I share my journey from widowhood to finding something meaningful again, as I built a mission, created a documentary, spoke on a TEDx stage, and found my way toward healing.
My Faithful Journey
I speak about my faith journey and how it has shaped my outlook, my choices, my path, and my progress. It was my faith that lifted me out of depression and led me into purpose.
The Joys of Volunteerism
Through my volunteer work, I’ve helped create 25 successful camps across the country for children who have or had loved ones battling ALS, along with many other programs and services that support children affected by ALS.
I also share how I give back, how volunteering has strengthened teamwork and boosted morale, and why I believe everyone benefits when we come together to help others.
