My talk is a reminder that dreams can come true at any age! As the founder of a unique non profit, Hope Loves Company, I have learned this truth first hand. My life's mission began as the result of becoming a widow at the age of 35. My grief and depression took a turn after 911 when I stopped feeling sorry for myself and began county my blessings again. I never thought that by writing down a simple phrase in 2007, Hope Loves Company, that the trajectory of my life would change for the better. Who knew that at 51, I would be fortunate enough to be a founder, writer, documentary producer, speaker and more. My self motto is, "A no one, with no connections, no money and no true talents can bring positive change if persistence, determination, sweat and the best intentions prevail." One positive step can ignite a mission and success can be achieved at any age!

Joy Givers is my story—my journey through caregiving, terminal illness, grief, and the hardest, most universal lessons of adult life. I wrote it with deep sincerity, for a world still trying to process the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the very real need for deeper peace. In these pages, I wrestle with themes like self-help, mental health, chronic grief, trauma, and self-empowerment. Along the way, I step into different roles—as a guide, a mentor, a friend, and a confidante—walking beside you as you navigate your own journey.

I lost my 36-year-old husband, Kevin O’Donnell, to ALS in 2001. Since then, I’ve devoted my life to giving back to others who are navigating life-limiting diagnoses and some of life’s most difficult transitions. I am the founder of Hope Loves Company, the only nonprofit dedicated to supporting the children and grandchildren of people living with ALS. I also serve as a motivational speaker, life coach, and host of the podcast Gratitude to Latitude: Stories of Hope and Resilience, where I share and celebrate the stories and people who have shaped my purpose and fueled my passion for personal growth and healing.
